Help needed with readyboost

I have a problem using readyboost, i have a 512mb and a 1GB memory stick which are both formatted and when i try to use them as readyboost it says that they do not meet the specied specs, what can i do to reslove this?

Try using the usb ports on the back of the computer. If you are using a usb hub it should be a powered hub. "Download Help" wrote in message

You could try pluggin it into other USB ports, some people have found that they have to plug and unplug it a few times before it works... You might have to buy new USB memory sticks which are fast enough to meet the specs. As of right now, I do not know of anyone composing a complete list.
I am using the PNY Attache 4GB. I have read the Sandisk Cruzers also work. There are a few others here who have given brand names of ones that work. Just search for ReadyBoost.
Here is what speeds are required:
Q: What perf do you need on your device? A: 2.5MB/sec throughput for 4K random reads and 1.75MB/sec throughput for 512K random writes
Q: My device says 12MB/sec (or 133x or something else) on the package but windows says that it isn't fast enough to use as a ReadyBoost device... why? A: Two possible reasons: The numbers measure sequential performance and we measure random. We've seen devices that have great sequential perf, but horrible random The performance isn't consistantly fast across the entire device. Some devices have 128M of lightning fast flash and the rest of the device is really slow. This is fine for some applications but not ReadyBoost.

My PNY Attache 1GB drive doesn't work, apparently it doesn't have the necessary performance characteristics :-( Could it be my USB ports aren't up to the job?

Such a helpful wit... NOT. Mine did the same. Had to plug it in and out a few times and it finally got recognized. (i don't think readyboost is ready for prime time yet). Make sure the sticks you're using are USB 2.0 certified and make sure they are plugged into a USB 2 port.
